The Russian Foreign Ministry articulated its concerns through a protest note, urging Tokyo to reconsider the missile deployment. The ministry warned that these systems could potentially destabilize peace in the region, and called for their removal. The issue was further emphasized by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko during discussions with Japanese Ambassador Akira Muto in Moscow.
The protest comes at a time of ongoing diplomatic friction between Russia and Japan, primarily revolving around the disputed southern Kuril Islands.
